About Me

Hello, I’m Margo Orum.

My journey began with a challenging period of my life, grappling with bipolar disorder.

This turbulent time ultimately ignited a profound interest in understanding how we change and mature as adults.

After overcoming these challenges, I pursued a career in psychology and authored an early autobiography in 1996, called "Fairytales in Reality: My Victory over Manic Depression."

I am the Founder and Principal Psychologist at Open Sky Psychology in Ryde, Sydney, where I lead a dedicated team in providing comprehensive psychological services.

My academic journey includes earning a PhD in Psychology with a thesis on "Moments of Insight: Sudden Change in Ego Development." This work offers new perspectives on how adults experience sudden significant shifts in their self-concept.

I’ve also had the privilege of lecturing at Macquarie University and contributing to various scholarly publications, that have included topics on bipolar disorder and the creative mind.

My goal is to make the intricate academic theories of adult development accessible to everyone, in plain language.

By creating the online course "Know Yourself: Stages on the Path to Personal Growth", I aim to share insights that will hopefully inspire people to aspire to - and expect - more profound personal and spiritual growth than they otherwise would.

This course aims to provide a knowledge bridge between modern psychological research and ancient wisdom, which offers a holistic view of our developmental path from cradle to grave.
